Better fun, though, was turning off the GPS and finding the way back to the car by looking at the direction of our shadows.

Susan and I went to see Rabbit-Proof Fence today. Good film with tempting scenes of the Australian outback, and all the more powerful in its message for not overstating anything. Three half-aborigine girls escape a resettlement school and head for the home from which they were removed... over a thousand miles away. They navigate by the rabbit-proof fence that goes from sea to sea in western Australia.
